The various living areas along the residential corridor provide a variety of spaces in which to spend time outside of the daily therapeutic programming. Four traditional yet comfortable and inviting group therapy rooms are used to provide evidence-based psychotherapy including cognitive-behavioral therapy and dialectical behavior therapy with 9 – 12 clients per group. HopeWay offers non-denominational pastoral care options for clients primarily using the Faith Center and its rustic, calming space. This room is also an ideal setting for other holistic healing approaches such as yoga and mindfulness. Our experienced team uses a holistic, personalized approach to create a unique treatment plan for each client. The plan outlines the steps needed for clients to make a successful transition to the next stage of their recovery.

Evidence-Based, Comprehensive Psychiatric Treatment
I got many gifts from my time at HopeWay, including my health and healing. Art is a new thing in my life that I’m very proud of and remains an integral part of my continued road to solid mental health. That stigma is a big part of the problem HopeWay is designed to solve, or at least ease. The private and public sectors in Charlotte and elsewhere offer little for them.
Our Programs
Blue was expecting a kind of way station between hospital and home, where patients could live if need be, continue their therapy and medication, and readjust to life. But the nearest treatment center for adults that offered those services was Skyland Trails in Atlanta. Blue, then an investment banking executive at Wells Fargo, was astounded.
“Let me say, as somebody trying to get reporters interested in mental health for many years, this is not something people like talking about,” Grano says. Because stories are about people, and it’s hard for people to share mental illness because it’s so surrounded by stigma.” The other two nod emphatically. Local mental health nonprofit HopeWay is expanding its services with a new facility at Oakhurst Commons in east Charlotte. We address core issues, using evidence-based, best practices to help clients set a course towards hope and healing.

I was considering a future for the first time in a very long time. Meet Kim, and learn her Story of Hope and the sense of community and belonging that HopeWay has provided on her path to healing. 94% of clients surveyed would recommend HopeWay to someone they care about. Studies show 90% of all people who receive best-practice care demonstrate a reduction in symptoms and improved productivity. HopeWay offered me the beautiful gift to remove myself from chaos and busyness which in turn allowed me space to gain deeper self-awareness and the confidence to ask for what I need and take steps toward self-care. Follow along on Elizabeth's journey through HopeWay, and learn how CBT and DBT therapy allowed her to overcome her anxiety and depression.
All clients are paired with a licensed clinical therapist and board-certified psychiatrist. The schedule includes weekly individual therapy with their primary therapist and weekly psychiatric follow up appointments with their attending psychiatrist. HopeWay incorporates evidence-based therapies, including traditional talk and integrative therapies to build a robust and diverse overall therapeutic program.
Sunlight falls on the work tables, sketchbooks, and pens in baskets. Our wooded campus is located in South Charlotte and offers residents state-of-the-art facilities to utilize during their stay. On the unit, individuals have access to relaxation areas, a game room, fire pit, and group spaces.
Something the statistics and context don’t cover is just how nice HopeWay is. It’s set on a gently rolling plot of land concealed behind a small business park. A wooded trail winds through a small valley behind the main building.
They can also enjoy the community atmosphere, utilizing the walking trails, gym, and library as they focus on healing and recovery. Our residential treatment facility offers 24/7 care and support for those struggling with mental health issues through evidence-based, holistic treatment. HopeWay's residential program helps adults, 18 years and older, struggling with mental health conditions that have affected their ability to be successful in school, work, and life. Our Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) include three half days of group therapy each week. These programs are designed to support adults and Veterans & First Responders with a primary mental health diagnosis. There will be programs dedicated to mental health disorders and eating disorders.
That largely leaves the matter to nonprofits and people such as William and Betsy Blue. HopeWay’s residential wing hosts 36 single bedrooms with private baths segmented into 6 “neighborhoods”, each named for a different region of North Carolina. The colors selected for the bedrooms are calming in nature and the finishes and décor are meant to feel as if residents are staying in a nice hotel room.
